Wally’s Cottage

We stayed at Wally's Cottage for a weekend on Lake Wallenpaupack with our dog. The property was roughly as described: a cozy layout, a well-equipped kitchen, and a convenient spot minutes from downtown Hawley and the lake.Cleanliness could have been a little better. There was noticeable dust in places and spiderwebs in several doorways. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but at this price we expected more attention before check-in.The fully fenced backyard was the biggest reason we booked, and that's where the stay fell short. Small, sharp bone shards, apparently from a much larger bone, were scattered across the yard. For our small hound they were a constant temptation and a real hazard. Instead of the peace of mind a gated yard should give, we had to watch our dog closely every time we went out. That defeated the purpose of the yard and the premium we paid for it.The cottage has a lot going for it. A thorough sweep of the yard between guests would make a big difference, especially since the listing is marketed to dog owners. Until then, we'd hesitate to bring our dog back.

Perfect little getaway with my pup! Communication was top notch. Absolutely will book again.

Positive: Very nice place to stay.. very comfortable and accommodating. Just wish it was closer to the lake. We Negative: Was there for 5 days and never got to the lake because access was hard to find. Being elderly couldn't really walk a trail or rocks to get down to the lake.

Cute cottage! Perfect for a couples getaway.

Place was very clean. Nice quiet area with things to do. Helpful host. Would stay again.
